10 years and counting

Team USA MN celebrated it's tenth anniversary last night at the Minikahda Country Club in the heart of Minneapolis. The view overlooking Lake Calhoun from its west shoreline was absolutely incredible. You could see the entire skyline and the lights from Target Field shining. By the way Twins....what the f happened last night. 11-0. Really? Anyway, it was a very nice evening with my teammates along with sponsors, family, friends, and the like. What an outstanding group of individuals!

Thinking back over the years... all the training days, the many racing and training venues all across the globe I have been fortunate enough to visit...left a little bit of a lump in my throat. I can say with pride that I am so unbelievably lucky to have been a part of this team, the Cities, and the state. We have left a legacy here and I hope the rookies can take this thing over and create their own set of standards. Never in my wildest dreams as a young boy growing up did I imagine that I would become a half-way decent distance runner nor did I ever envision wearing the US national uniform at World Championships in cross country and marathon running. I would never, ever trade in what I have experienced for anything.

And so here I am, giving this thing one more push, working intelligently and diligently, trying to clean up some PRs that have needed a good wash for a couple years. Confident in my abilities, motivated to do some relatively great things, and accepting nothing but the best from myself. I'm proud of myself for taking a step back over the last few months, re-evaluating my priorities and expectations, and deciding that I have a lot left deep inside. I just wanna beat the crap outta some people on the roads and track and I can and I will. That is all.

  1. Nice post. I'll be one of those peeps you'll be beating the crap out of at the Victory 5k if you do it. 'Half way decent'?? You're a world class elite and a true inspiration bro.
